Listener Icon

For RemoteCommand to operate smoothly it must automatically check the designated email address at regular intervals for RemoteCommand emails. The process that performs this email checking is called the 'Listener'. The Listener normally runs as an icon in the System Tray:

Listener Application

To view the Listener messages double-click on the system tray icon or right-click on the icon and select 'View Listener...'.

The Listener displays status messages about any incoming or outgoing RemoteCommand emails. From here a number of different operations are available:
·Save - Saves the messages shown in the list to a file.
·Start - Starts the Listener checking for messages.
·Stop - Stops the Listener from checking for messages.
·Check Now - Requests that the Listener immediately check for messages instead of waiting for the next check messages timeout period.
·Configuration - Changes the Listener configuration.
·Delete - Deletes the messages currently in the list.
·Exit - Stops the Listener and closes the application, which also removes the Listener from the System Tray.

Listener Configuration

To view the current Listener configuration click the Configuration button or select 'Configuration...' from the Listener menu.

Information levels effect which messages generated during the email checking process are displayed to the user. Information levels available are:
·Errors - Only errors are displayed.
·Serious Warnings - All messages from the previous level plus serious warnings.
·Warnings - All messages from the previous level plus minor warnings.
·Brief - (default setting) All messages from the previous level plus major event messages, such as incoming emails.
·Verbose - All messages from the previous level plus other informational messages generated during email checking.
·Debug - All messages generated from the Listener, mainly used to diagnose problems with an installation.

To change how often the Listener automatically checks for email change the 'Check for mail every' value.

To change the system wide configuration settings, e.g. email send/receive settings, click the 'Start up configuration...' button to launch the system wide configuration application.
