Installation

Installation is simply a case of running the installation executable. The following should have been installed and available from the Start menu:
·RemoteCommand. The main RemoteCommand application.
·Listener. An application that runs in the system tray to listen for special RemoteCommand emails.
·Configuration. An application to set RemoteCommand system wide configuration values.
·Help. This help file.
·Uninstall. To remove RemoteCommand from your system, also available from the Control Panel Add/Remove Software.

Reasons why installation can fail:
1. Disk space. RemoteCommand requires approximately 3MB of disk space to install.
2. Insufficient permissions. If you are installing on Win NT/2000/XP/2003 it is recommended that you run the installation logged on as a user with Administrator privileges.
3. Old version of Windows. RemoteCommand should install on any PC with Win 98 or greater with the latest updates and Service Packs. Please contact technical support for more information.

Verifying Installation

To verify that the installation has been successful please carefully follow these steps:
·Run the system wide configuration application to setup RemoteCommand for this computer
·Run the Listener to make sure that RemoteCommand is able to access email successfully
·Run the RemoteCommand application to add the remote computer that this computer wishes to access
·Launch the Listener again and wait for the remote computer to respond/initiate the Initialization Request
·Once the remote computer has responded the computer's status will change to 'Confirmed'. Look at Command history to check on the status of the initialization process.
·Send a test command to ensure that both computers are communicating
